This pencil drawing is a study for a painting I am currently working on.
It has to do with Merlin and a prophecy he delivered to King Vortigern. A red and
white dragon battled nightly deep below in a cavern under the very site the
foolish king chose to build his stronghold, destroying tower and wall
construction done through the day. The red dragon represented the Britons
and the white signified the Saxons, who eventually invaded and overran Britain
after King Arthur's death. © 2001.
